Finalist – PETITE Miniature Textiles Exhibition (2018)

‘Piecing together…2’ , native orchid seedpods, crochet cotton, remnant thread, flocked wallpaper remnant, reclaimed foam and etching on cotton rag paper and kozo paper

Referencing Katherine’s heritage, ‘Piecing together… 2’, is an expression of the decorative and domestic craft items found in traditional Greek homes.

Inspired and informed by her grandmothers’ needlework techniques, the patterns and colours reference the ‘kourelou’ by replacing remnant rags with remnant crochet chains and threads. Objects found in nature are juxtaposed for their form and patterns whilst also paying homage to the natural sources of the traditional materials used.
